Force10 Networks E1200 series carrier class switches
The E1200 series carrier class switches are designed to fit into the utilitarian environment of a telecom central office, and to look machine like or mechanistic. We called this approach 'designing the engineering' as nothing is superfluous to the chassis and everything is as functional as possible.
To make the switch easy to use we integrated cable management for up to 376 delicate duplex optical fibers onto the top of the chassis. The cable management is designed such that cables fall naturally into place without the need for fiddly cable ties, making it easier to move cables and remove or replace one of the 14 line cards. Line cards were rationalized so that connectors, functions and labeling lined up between all the available cards enabling users to identify status at a glance.
